Preparing Adults with Disabilities for Meaningful Careers
A partnership between Goodwill Columbus and DSW providing paid, hands-on workforce training for adults with disabilities.
About The Partnership:
Goodwill Columbus and DSW have partnered to create a workplace-based training program that helps adults with disabilities transition into competitive employment. Hosted at DSW’s Columbus distribution operations, participants learn industry skills, workplace expectations, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving through real job experiences.

On The Job Training
Through Project SEARCH at DSW, Goodwill Columbus helps adults with disabilities gain the skills and experience needed to succeed in the workforce. This six-month program places participants in a professional logistics environment where they receive hands-on training, workplace mentoring, and individualized support.
Working in small cohorts, participants learn and build technical and professional skills in a real-world setting.
Throughout the program, participants receive:
- Paid workplace training
- Career readiness development
- Professional communication skills
- Job coaching and support
- Experience in logistics and distribution operations
The combination of hands-on experience, skill development, and personalized support helps participants prepare for competitive employment and greater independence.
