UPDATES FROM RYAN
Hello Team Goodwill Columbus,
Welcome to summer!
June is already off to a fast start. Last week, we held our Annual Meeting with the Board of Directors, who approved a new slate of officers. We’re incredibly fortunate to have a Board that both challenges and supports us in meaningful ways. We’re excited to welcome Jeff Girard, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain and Logistics at DSW, as our new Board Chair.
At the meeting, we also celebrated a remarkable milestone—five Goodwill employees who are each celebrating 30 years with the organization. We’ll be highlighting their stories later this year, so stay tuned for more about these incredible individuals.
That same day, we hosted our Management Meeting, bringing together leaders from across the organization. Our agenda focused on mental health, a topic we’re committed to year-round. May was Mental Health Awareness Month and June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, so it’s a great time to explore the resources and benefits available to Goodwill employees—you will find these resources on the Benefits tab of our intranet GWCconnects.
Looking ahead:
- Father’s Day is June 15 – don’t forget to take advantage of your 50% employee discount to find a great gift for the dads in your life!
- Our administrative offices will be closed on June 19 in recognition of Juneteenth, a federal holiday that commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom. At Goodwill Columbus, our mission is to help individuals find their own pathway to independence in many ways. The spirit of Juneteenth aligns deeply with our work, reminding us why opportunity and empowerment matter so much in everything we do.
Let’s have a great month! I appreciate what you do every day.
Ryan
