Goodwill’s Individualized Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP) prepares Franklin County residents, those who are partially employed, unemployed, or low-income, to obtain employment in the exciting world of Information Technology (IT).  Program enrollees receive personalized employment preparation services that include individualized skills assessments, career planning, workplace skills training, job search assistance, and long-term employment retention support.  As part of their training, those enrolled will train to receive one or more industry-recognized credentials aligned with in-demand IT occupations.  

These credential program will enable program graduates to become Computer User Support Professionals, Computer Systems Analysts, Information Security Analysts, Network Support Specialists, Computer Network Architects, Network and Computer Systems Administrators, Database Administrators, and others. 

Training offered through the IMAP program is free of cost to program enrollees.

Comp TIA A+

CompTIA A+

Virtual, Instructor led. 8-12 week course. Day class & night classes available. 

Training will consist of a blended learning approach that combines Security, Networking, Operating Systems, IT Operations, Troubleshooting, and Technical Support into one singular course. Students gain the necessary competencies of an entry-level IT professional. This course provides training focused on the fundamentals of computer technology, networking and security, as well as the communication skills and professionalism now required of all entry level IT professionals. Students gain critical hands-on experience through a comprehensive series of Performance Based Exam Prep Simulations. The A+ course is considered the foundation class for the Network+ and Security+ courses.

The Network+ certification is designed to prepare students with foundation-level skills they need to install, operate, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot a corporate network. Students will learn to design and implement functional networks, configure manage and maintain network devices, use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic, implement security protocols, troubleshoot network issues, and create virtual networks. As in the A+ Comprehensive course, students gain critical hands-on experience in Goodwill’s IT Training Lab.  

CompTIA Security+

CompTIA Security+

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

The Security+ Certification will teach students the fundamental principles of installing and configuring cybersecurity controls and participating in incident response and risk mitigation. The CompTIA Security+ certification is the computer industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of a Network Security professional.  Students learn to identify security threats, assess security risks for system hardware and peripherals, implement operating system hardening practices and procedures, identify best practices for Access Control, evaluate proper logging procedures, and conduct risk mitigation assessments.




CompTIA Project+

CompTIA Project+

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

CompTIA Project+ prepares IT professionals to manage smaller, less complex projects as part of their other job duties but still have foundational project management skills. Project+ is a versatile certification that covers essential project management concepts beyond the scope of just one methodology or framework. The CompTIA Project+ examination is designed for business professionals who coordinate or manage small-to-medium-sized projects. Course topics include Project Lifecycle Management, Project Communication, Managing Resources and Stakeholders, and Project Documentation.

Google IT Support Professional

Google IT Support Professional

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

This six-course certification developed by Google includes and innovative curriculum designed to prepare students for entry-level IT support roles.  Course content includes troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, system administration, automation, and security.  Content is delivered through a mixture of video lectures, quizzes, hands-on labs, and widgets.  The curriculum consists of 6 course which require 8-10 hours each to complete.  This course will be offered to 15 program participants as a complementary/free (i.e. Goodwill will absorb the costs) certification through 2019. 

Google Workspace Cloud Certified

Google Workspace Cloud Certified

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

A Google Cloud certification in Google Workspace signals to employers that you possess the digital skills to work collaboratively and productively in a professional environment. By earning the Google Workspace certification, you prove your ability to complete common workplace activities using cloud-based tools to create and share documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and files. You demonstrate that you can communicate effectively with email and online meeting solutions.




Certified Ethical Hacker

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

This certification gives IT professional knowledge of assessing the security of computer systems by looking for weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems, using the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker, but in a lawful and legitimate manner to assess the security posture of a target system. 

Google Associate Cloud Engineer

Google Associate Cloud Engineer

Self-paced. 40 to 80 hours total. 

An Associate Cloud Engineer deploys applications, monitors operations, and manages enterprise solutions. This individual can use Google Cloud Console and the command-line interface to perform common platform-based tasks to maintain one or more deployed solutions that leverage Google-managed or self-managed services on Google Cloud. The Associate Cloud Engineer exam assesses your ability to: Set up a cloud solution environment, Plan and configure a cloud solution, Deploy and implement a cloud solution, Ensure successful operation of a cloud solution, Configure access and security.

Microsoft Technology Associate

The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification is an entry-level credential that validates fundamental technology skills and knowledge among students and job-seekers who are pursuing a career in technology.  MTA addresses a wide range of critical technology concepts with exams that are designed to assess and validate core technical concepts in three primary areas: Developer, Database, and IT Professional.
