CCAD + Goodwill Columbus

Goodwill Columbus is thrilled to partner with Columbus College of Art & Design students.

“It was so fun to collaborate with the incredible team at CCAD for this project, and we can’t wait for everyone to see the impressive looks the students created. Each design is unique in its own right and shows off the true versatility of shopping sustainably and secondhand—even when you’re designing something new.”

-Ryan D. Burgess, CEO of Goodwill Columbus

About The Partnership:

Goodwill Columbus and Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) have partnered again to bring a semester-long, hands-on design experience for its fashion students. Using materials sourced from Goodwill Columbus stores, the students learned about the sustainable, accessible approach to their art.

In March, participating students visited Goodwill Columbus’s Brice Road location where they toured the warehouse and store, and learned about Goodwill’s mission from CEO, Ryan Burgess. Artist, Lynn Hetherington served as a mentor on the project, educating students on materials and construction techniques. All the students had a shopping day at Goodwill using provided gift cards to gather the materials needed for the project.

Then, the students were given the time to create looks based on the theme of Masquerade Wearable Art. Students crafted beautifully unique garments that both flex their creativity and skills. We are fortunate to be able to display all 10 garments at our retail locations. We hope they inspire creativity and highlight some of what is possible with sustainably sourced materials from Goodwill Columbus.
