One of the best parts of my job is hearing stories about our employees providing exceptional customer service. In these moments, they demonstrate our entrepreneurial value by focusing on the customer. It’s even more meaningful to me when colleagues take the time to recognize one another by writing an ICARE card celebrating how they live our values.
September offers several opportunities to recognize your fellow employees. First, I’m excited to announce the September ICARE Challenge. This challenge was created in direct response to feedback from our latest Vision surveys, in which many of you shared that you would like more recognition. You can learn more about the challenge in this edition of Good Vibes.
September also includes several observances that give us opportunities to thank colleagues for the important work they do in service to Goodwill and our community:
· Workforce Development Month (September)
· Direct Support Professionals Appreciation Week (September 14–18)
· National Security Officer Appreciation Week (September 20–26)
During these observances, I encourage you to take an extra moment to recognize and thank employees in these areas for their service and impact.

Good News
Columbus Marathon 10/18 – Volunteers needed!
We are partnering with the Columbus Marathon by collecting discarded clothing on race day, Sunday, October 18th!
Runners will toss extra clothing items in bins placed at the start of the race, and we will collect and process the items to be sold in our stores.
This is a volunteer-led event and we’d love your help! Scan the QR code below and select “Goodwill pickup” to sign up to volunteer!
September ICARE Challenge! 📣
This September we are challenging you to nominate a coworker you see living our ICARE values with an ICARE Award!
Submit an ICARE award by scanning the QR code.
Winning individuals and departments will be revealed at the October 8 management meeting!

Congratulations to Dywan, who was named Ohio Provider Resource Association’s District 6 Front Line Supervisor of the Year!
As a member of our Work & Community Services team, Dywan does an incredible job leading our DSPs as they support individuals with developmental and behavioral disabilities.
His steady, even-keeled approach is one of the many qualities that makes him such an effective leader.
