Updates from Ryan
November invites gratitude, and I’m grateful for your work and the dignity you show the individuals and teammates we serve every day.
First, a salute to our veterans. On Tuesday, November 11, we honored Team Goodwill members who have served our country. I’m in awe of their service and thankful they bring that same commitment to Goodwill.
Thank you to everyone who made our Extraordinary People Luncheon a celebration to remember. Two of our three honorees are employees: Jason Royce (Donated Goods Retail) and Fred Thomas (Work & Community Services). Their stories reminded us what perseverance looks like and why our work matters.
As Thanksgiving approaches, I wish you and your loved ones a safe, restful holiday on Thursday, November 27. I also ask that we each take a moment to think of those in our community who are facing tougher days.
Two quick notes of appreciation for you:
- If you’re doing holiday shopping after Thanksgiving, don’t forget your 50% employee discount.
- Keep an eye on your mailbox. Our 2025 Employee Holiday Cards are on the way in the next few weeks and a small token of big appreciation.
Recently, I participated in an employee town hall and was moved by the thoughtful and candid feedback I received. In some cases, it was very direct feedback. Good. We’ve worked hard to build a culture that reflects our values. We’re not perfect and we have more to do, but I’m grateful we’ve created space for candid input either through our Vision survey, to our leaders or directly to me. That tells me we’re on the right path, and for that, I’m very thankful.
Thank you for showing up with purpose and heart. I’m proud of this team and excited about what we’re building together.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Ryan
