Last week, as we celebrated Independence Day—a symbol of liberty and self-determination—I was reminded of the journey of individuals striving for personal independence. Goodwill Columbus stands at the forefront of this mission, not merely as a “for-purpose” enterprise but as a beacon of empowerment. Through employment, free job training, educational resources, and support services, Goodwill Columbus equips individuals with the necessary tools for economic mobility and self-reliance. In my opinion, the mission we live each day is an excellent way to honor the spirit of the Fourth of July.
On July 15th, we will celebrate “National Developmental Disability Professional Day.” Goodwill Columbus is filled with extraordinary employees who serve individuals with disabilities in various ways. Consider July 15th as another excellent opportunity to present an “ICARE” card to a fellow employee to recognize their commitment to our mission.
Another significant event this month is the grand opening of our new Grove City location on July 18th. Located on Stringtown Road, this facility will support four of our service areas: retail, donations, free job training, and adult day services. It is the only Goodwill Columbus location housing all four functions under one roof. Spread the word to all your friends and family about the latest Goodwill location!
Lastly, I am thrilled to remind you that our first-ever 403b match will be live in July! Goodwill Columbus is now contributing to your savings and future by matching your 403b contributions. And, keep in mind, it was your voices that expressed the desire for a 403b match through our Vision surveys. Your consistent feedback is invaluable!
See you soon.

For Larken it was having to relearn to walk twice in her life to now have a job where she has a better sense of independence. And JoJo has become confident in advocating for herself and growing in her skills that led her to being able to have her own apartment.
Amazing job, JoJo and Larken!
