Updates from Ryan
Goodwill Columbus Team,
As we head into February, I want to thank you for how you showed up through the winter weather over the last few weeks. Whether you were on-site delivering essential services, keeping facilities safe and clean, or adjusting retail operations in real time, your commitment made a real difference for our mission. I’m grateful.
Looking ahead:
A little love: Valentine’s employee discount
It’s been said that, “If you want to be loved, love.” To help you share the love this Valentine’s Day, don’t forget about our 50% employee discount, which is a great way to find a thoughtful gift for someone special.
March Management Meeting & our updated ICARE values
Next month, at our meeting for managers and supervisors, we’ll introduce our refreshed organizational values. We’re making this update to ensure we’re all working from the same playbook and holding each other to the standards our mission deserves. In the meantime, don’t forget to fill out an ICARE card for a colleague who demonstrates our values in action.
Why it all matters
Everything we do at Goodwill Columbus is about creating opportunities that help individuals and employees reach their full potential. And in a time when our country feels uncertain and tensions can run high, our work matters even more, because we can be a steady, trusted source of stability for the people who count on us. When we’re aligned around our values and our purpose, our impact across Central Ohio grows.
Thank you for all you do.
Ryan

February Highlights
Maurice’s Story
When Maurice first came to Goodwill Columbus, he was facing a daunting set of hurdles. As an individual who is profoundly deaf and navigating the complexities of a past legal record, he found his livelihood threatened when he could no longer work as a delivery driver.
He turned to Goodwill’s career services for a fresh start, and for four months, he worked tirelessly with his career coach, Robin, to build a professional resume, navigate online applications, and refine his interview skills.

Collaboration: “David is not a man of many words, but when he does speak, his words are heavily weighed and hold great value. David has recently shifted to a Funding Specialist role. Although he is new to this role and working hard to learn everyday, he makes time to answer my questions in a clear and concise manner to ensure that I truly learn and understand “the why.” I really appreciate all he does and wanted to publicly share his awesomeness!! Thanks David!” Tasha Simmons on David Martinez
Collaboration: “Abdellah does his best everyday. He doesn’t cut corners and he doesn’t come late. He regularly shows that you can count on him when a task is assigned to him. He is someone I appreciate being able to work with and hope to see more follow in his footsteps.” Jinx Coplen on Kaalout Abdellah
Integrity: “Ashley continuously wears multiple hats and still keeps up with being an awesome supervisor. She finds solutions that satisfy all parties while maintaining professionalism and respect. This is not only for the jobseekers but her team. Ashley is always sacrificing for the greater need of the business.” Alexis Salaberrios on Ashley Rodriguez-Anderson
Integrity: “Tarayna is great to work with, from staff aspect to client aspect she treats everyone with kindness and with respect. She always goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everyone who has a opinion is respected to the fullest. There’s not a day that goes by that she hasn’t created a safe space for everyone that she comes in contact with.” Lisa Lawson on Tarayna Daniels
