“Do Good” will allow members to unlock exclusive savings, giveaways, and member experiences with their donations
(Columbus, Ohio) — Goodwill Columbus has launched a new loyalty rewards program, Do Good, incentivizing users who donate clothing and goods at any Goodwill Columbus location. Users can join Do Good on their mobile device and begin earning points for any donation they make. Points will be redeemable for various discounts, rewards, and community-based experiences.
“What makes this program incredibly unique is that it rewards our patrons for their donations, not just for the money they spend in our stores,” said Ryan D. Burgess, CEO of Goodwill Columbus. “The Do Good program encourages our community to do just that—do good in the community. It’s what we strive to do at Goodwill Columbus every day, and we are incredibly excited to reward our supporters for their generous contributions.”
For launch, members will earn points simply for donating, although Goodwill Columbus does plan to add a shopping component in the future.
The goals of Do Good are to connect and reward local Columbus residents who choose to donate their gently used clothing and goods rather than send them to the landfill. According to data from SWACO (Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio), 76% of material coming to the landfill could have been diverted through efforts such as recycling and composting, and much of the clothing, furniture, appliances, and home goods that are thrown away in Central Ohio could be donated to Goodwill instead.
”So much of what most of us throw away could have been reused or recycled, and Do Good is going to be a fun and engaging way to encourage Franklin County residents to find new life for their donations,” said SWACO Executive Director Joe Lombardi. “Goodwill Columbus is a great, long-term partner for us in the work to extend the life of the landfill by diverting waste through reuse, recycling, and repurposing.”
Do Good is made possible in part by the financial support of SWACO.
“We are so grateful for the support of SWACO through their Community Waste Reduction Grant,” says Goodwill Columbus Marketing and Communications Director, Simone Attles. “It’s partnerships like this that will help us educate and encourage our communities to reduce the overall amount of recoverable, recyclable, and compostable materials heading to the landfill.”
In addition to discounts and rewards, active Do Good members will also be invited to attend exclusive in-store workshops ranging from candle pouring events, kids clinics, art classes using donated materials, and much more.
