A Taste of Jazz & Ribs, Courtesy of a Kind Heart

This past weekend, our Adult Day Services groups enjoyed a truly special outing to Columbus’s annual Jazz & Ribs Festival, all thanks to the incredible generosity of a former Goodwill employee, David. For five years, David was a valued part of our team, and even after moving on, the impact Goodwill had on him stayed.

For 17 years, David and his dad attended Columbus’ annual Jazz & Ribs Festival together. It was a cherished tradition, a bond forged over good music and delicious food. Eighteen months ago, David’s father passed away, leaving a void that the festival undoubtedly highlighted. David decided to honor the memory of his late father in a profoundly meaningful way.

In a beautiful tribute, David paid for five of our Adult Day Services groups to enjoy lunch at the festival. He wanted to share the joy and camaraderie of the event, just as he had with his dad, and he felt that Goodwill was the perfect organization to partner with for this heartfelt gesture.

It was a fantastic day filled with lively music, incredible food, and beaming smiles. David even came to the festival himself, taking the time to meet and take pictures with all of our clients. His thoughtful act not only provided a memorable experience for our individuals but also served as a powerful reminder of the lasting connections forged within the Goodwill family.

We are incredibly grateful to David for his kindness and for sharing a piece of his family’s tradition with us. It’s truly inspiring to see how the spirit of giving continues to resonate, even after an employee moves on. Thank you, David, for your remarkable generosity!
