Thank You For Your Support

To all our steadfast and supportive community stakeholders:

First and foremost, I want to reach out during these exceedingly challenging times to assure that you, your families, friends and colleagues are remaining safe and healthy during this unprecedented, worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

Goodwill shares in our community’s collective commitment to continue providing the vital programs to those we serve, while maintaining our financial stability. Like many businesses, we rely on our retail operations for the earned income that sustains our agency’s mission and financial viability. The necessary and appropriate closing of our 11 stores on March 24th in response to Governor DeWine’s “Stay at Home” Order has had a significant impact on our organization.

As you may know, the earned income our stores generate helps provide employment across the agency….to our 1,100 staff members, many of whom deliver mission critical services to more than 2,300 clients. Last year, that represented in excess of 1.3 million service hours! During this ever-evolving environment in which we are operating, we’ve been guided by the principals of remaining agile and innovating on all fronts of our operations with our compassionate foundation of providing a “hand  up” to those we serve.

In that spirit, Goodwill continues to support more than 600 adults with developmental disabilities each day. Although our Adult Day Services sites have closed due to necessity, our staff remains in touch remotely with our clients. Many of those employees have been redeployed to provide vital service to individuals in their homes. In addition, as our nation  experiences skyrocketing unemployment stemming from this health crisis, our Workforce Development staff has continued to provide critical workforce training and employment assistance, remotely, to hundreds of individuals in our community.

We are deeply grateful for your passionate and steadfast commitment to Goodwill’s mission of transforming the lives of our community’s most vulnerable citizens through the power of work…and will continue to keep you informed about the “State of Goodwill” in the weeks ahead.

Please be sure to stay safe and healthy, as we embrace the importance… more than ever…that We Are Better Together!

All my best

Margie Pizzuti
President and CEO
