COVID-19 Update

4.3.20

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that Ohio's Stay at Home order has been extended until 11:59 p.m. on May 1, 2020.

With this announcement, Goodwill’s retail stores will remain closed to shoppers through Friday, May 1. A limited number of stores and donation centers will remain open to accept donations only. Click here to view open locations and hours.

We love your donations. One small request: Please make them during business hours.

4.2.20 Update

We appreciate the generosity of our donors who continue to support our mission to put people to work by donating their gently used goods. Unfortunately, some of those donations will not be able to be used because they were left at our donor doors when we were closed. We are making every effort to serve our donors while being compliant with local, state, and federal guidelines. We ask for your support in keeping our team members and your donations safe.

Donations left outside of our temporary business hours are subject to vandalism and the elements. While we salvage what we can, we may have to dispose of damaged items that otherwise could have been used to support job seekers.

Please be sure to donate only during open times. We appreciate the ongoing support of you, our donors, and your efforts to keep our communities clean and your donations in their best condition.

Donors may drop off donations 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at all retail location donation doors except for the Brice Road Retail Store and Outlet. Blue containers will be located outside the donation doors for customers’ convenience. Three attended donation centers will remain open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday: 1759 West Fifth Avenue in Grandview, 3172 Kingsdale Center in Upper Arlington, and 6847 East Broad Street in Blacklick.

3.23.20 Update
As a result of Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton’s “Stay at Home” order issued Sunday, Goodwill Columbus’ 11 retail stores in Franklin County will close at end of business day today, until at least April 6th. Further closure will be determined at the direction of Governor Mike DeWine and Director Acton, and we will keep you apprised at a later date.

During the time period this order is in place, Goodwill will not be running the home pick-up service, Goodwill At Your Door. However, we are looking forward to picking up customers’ home-based donations as soon as the health order is lifted.

Goodwill shoppers may shop online during this time at the national Goodwill site, https://shopgoodwill.com.

We look forward to the time, hopefully soon, that our stores and all donation centers open again, filled with great bargains for shoppers, and our dedicated retail employees welcoming them back.

3.16.20 Update
Our Goodwill Family is made up of the individuals we are committed to support through Supported Living, Day Services and Workforce Development programs; the shoppers who invest in our mission through their purchases and donations; and the customers who entrust us to clean and secure their buildings. The health, safety and overall well-being of our family and community is our top concern. With that in mind, we have taken the following steps:

  • We are closely monitoring the rapidly changing COVID 19 (commonly known as the Coronavirus) situation, responding to new information as it arises.
  • Our Supported Living, Day Services, and Workforce Development programs are collaborating with our providers and partner agencies daily, to ensure we are meeting the needs of the individuals we serve, in the most effective way possible, accessing all available resources.
  • If you need to miss work due to COVID-19, please first notify your supervisor and then the Leave Department at LOA@gwcols.com or 614-583-0204. We are educating and training employees on CDC guidelines, emphasizing the importance of sanitation, not touching one’s face, staying home if sick, frequent and proper handwashing, and enforcing practices regarding wearing and changing gloves.
  • Goodwill retail and donation locations have implemented advanced cleaning procedures and protocols. Hand sanitizers are placed next to all of our registers. Customers can drive up to our donation doors at 10 stores and 8 attended donation centers, where a single individual will come out to take your donations. Goodwill At Your Door, our home pick-up service, will pick up your donations at your residence.
  • We will follow the guidance of local, state and federal health officials, as we continue to manage our response to this nationwide pandemic.
