Goodwill Columbus is dedicated to providing individuals with disabilities
and other barriers to employment with the opportunity to achieve
their highest levels of personal and economic independence. Our
comprehensive programs provide individuals with the training, and
experience needed to become job-ready and employable in todays
competitive labor market. We offer a variety of programs and services
to meet the needs of a diverse client base, including classes and
educational opportunities, occupational training, job placement
services, and ongoing employment assistance. In addition, Goodwill
Columbus sponsors a variety of specialty programs for people with
disabilities, users of assistive technology, people moving from
welfare-to-work, and individuals who have developmental disabilities.
In all these ways, Goodwill strives to empower individuals to be
productive and independent.

Day Services
SAGE Senior Services
SAGE
Senior Services provides a host of retirement
options for senior citizens with mental retardation or other developmental
disabilities. In 2000, 280 adults chose from among educational or
work opportunities, social activities and community service projects.
SAGE Senior Services operates in two shifts at Goodwill's Edgehill Road location.
Sixty individuals participate in services at the SAGE Senior
Services Crosswoods
location in Worthington.
Young Adult Services
Young Adult Services is designed to provide
community interaction opportunities for people with disabilities
who are 18 to 50. Participants learn skills in daily living, home
management, socialization, and personal adjustment. This daytime
program serve 32 individuals in Young Adult Services at four different home style
settings.
at Battelle Career Education Center
The Workforce Development program offers rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.
It focuses on employment skills training and teaches people with
disabilities to use specialized equipment that can help to overcome
potential barriers in the workplace.

Public Transportation Access
COTA bus service provides easy access to Workforce Development. Edgehill
Road is one block west of Olentangy River Road and runs between
Fifth and Third Avenues.
Physical Accessibility
Our facility is fully accessible for people with disabilities or
other barriers to employment. State-of-the-art adaptive equipment
is available to students for their use in training.
Goodwill Columbus offers many opportunities for people to identify
and develop their personal and professional skills in preparation
for employment in the community. In addition, a variety of support
services are available to meet the special needs of people enrolled
in Goodwill programs.
Programs
Career Track
Career Track is a supported employment service designed for people
in need of long-term support. A person dealing with anxiety, behavior
management issues, and/or little to no work experience may benefit
from this service.
Case Services
This program offers opportunities in adult basic literacy education
to support participants who receive more than one Goodwill service.
Case managers, who monitor participant progress, are the primary
contact persons for all programs and services at Goodwill Columbus.
COACH
This program is designed to assist, obtain, and maintain employment.
It offers several key programs to people with disabilities whom
are entering or reentering the work force. The programs provide
effective tools for workplace success. An array of services are
provided for the job seeker including classes focusing on job seeking
techniques, soft skills, job retention strategies, and conducting
a job search. The program assists people in securing a job, providing
on and off-site job coaching as needed.
Career Assessment
This program is an individualized career assessment service based
on consumer and counselor requests. It provides a comprehensive,
systematic approach to vocational exploration. The process involves
a partnership between the person served and the vocational evaluator
that leads to the development of employment goals and objectives.
Employment Skills Training
Employment
Skills Training programs are offered in a variety of computer-based
areas ranging from customer service to medical claims. All training
programs can be individualized to compliment each participant's
unique vocation goals.
Employee Development Services
This program utilizes an actual work environment to assist people
in learning or reestablish skills, attitudes, and personal characteristics
and work behaviors needed to maintain employment. These services
are time limited and assist the participant to build an understanding
of the value and demands of employment.
 
Residential Services
Supported Living
Supported Living provides support in the homes of participants who
have developmental disabilities. This support allows them to live
in a home environment and maintain their independence within their
community. Supported Living serves 100 persons in more than 46 locations
throughout Franklin County.

Onsite Residence
Onsite Residence teaches participants daily living skills such
as hygiene, home management, socialization, community access and
personal adjustment. Goodwill Columbus is home to 23 individuals
with mental retardation or other developmental disabilities, located
at Edgehill.
 
Work & Behavioral Services
Work & Behavioral Services supply the productive work skills setting for participants
with developmental disabilities and individuals who may have behavioral
and psychiatric disabilities. There are 100 participants enrolled
in individually tailored programs that address specific needs such
as safety skills, personal habits, production, and vocational training.

Janitorial
Janitorial began with one contract and three employees.
Now our dedicated employees provide professional custodial services
at several Central Ohio locations including: Ohio Department of
Administrative Services - State Computer Center; Ohio Department
of Public Safety; and the Ohio Department of Transportation. Goodwill
Columbus employees perform a variety of cleaning duties in restrooms,
offices, and parking lots. Different types of equipment are used,
such as wet/dry vacuum cleaners, window cleaning tools, blowers,
and floor buffers.
Security
This service provides unarmed, uniformed officers professionally
trained in general industry security methods and sophisticated surveillance
equipment at contract sites within the Columbus area. Officers are
registered with the State of Ohio. Officers monitor and guard buildings
and parking lots. Training includes electronic access door monitoring,
patrol logs, life safety systems inspection, automated building
systems monitoring, and crisis intervention capabilities.
Assembly & Fulfillment
Assembly & Fulfillment is the largest and oldest of Goodwill
Columbus Outsource Services.
Major corporations including Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories; UnionTools; and Hangers Unlimited, Inc. lead the list of contractors.
Employees assemble a wide range of products and utilize different
types of equipment such as shrink-wrap machines, scales, and heat
sealers.
Retail
Employees perform various tasks in a retail environment, such as
sorting, pricing, and stocking merchandise, customer service, and
cash register operations. Also included are housekeeping duties,
such as dusting fixtures and furniture and keeping merchandise organized.
Goods are collected at donation centers and distributed to our thrift
stores for processing. Employees sort, inspect, hang, and price
merchandise in preparation for shipment to retail outlets
